Melissa Gallo was conceived in Lyndhurst New Jersey on August 19th,1982. "3"[4] She was the daughter of Cuban parents came from Cuba to U.S. as teenagers. The father of the family was an educator and jewelry shop worker, and her mother worked as hairdresser and homemaker. Gallo was a child in Guttenberg prior to making the move to Lyndhurst at the age of six, was raised in Lyndhurst. [6] She and her family spoke Spanish at home, but her parents stopped forcing her and her brother practice it after he ran into issues in school. When she was a kid, Gallo enjoyed creating and acting in plays and then dancing lessons. When she was ten years of age, Gallo started to get attracted to acting after watching The Secret Garden. The school was assigned to her by her parents. The students and the teacher enjoyed taking theater classes because they were more focused on the performance than their physical appearances. She remained enrolled in theater and dancing classes through the time she graduated. The moment she got the acceptance letters for New York University (NYU) that she described as her "dream school",[9she thought she wouldn't be able to be able to attend because of the price. To make sure she was able to afford NYU, her parents used their savings and took out credit. Gallo lived at home for a while prior to going from her home in New York City when she reached 19. In 2003, she graduated with A Bachelor of Fine Arts (dramatics) degree.
