Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress across Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role, she won an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second youngest winner in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian born New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won an Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the empathetic and curious young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. She was cast as Flora McGrath the daughter of a muffled Scottish pianist who, in the late 19th century relocates to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an audition open to all; she was nine years old. She had little prior experience in acting. As a teenager, she moved to America. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was just a young girl as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and an important role in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding (1997). Paquin was a part of the supporting cast in Princess of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
