Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also a writer. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author, television personality and owner of the independent liberal online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace is Greece Arianna Huffington came to England with her family when she was age 16. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. The first graduate who was not from the UK to hold the office of the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. The years that followed when she graduated, she became an influential conservative journalist who was syndicated. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current politics. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their opinions on culture and political issues. Arianna gained fame after she decided in 2003 to be an independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of an Detroit campaign to increase the use of fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as the 12th most influential female on the planet in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the top 100 list of media in that same year. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and the post was made president by the media company. This was a huge acquisition that included a number of AOL brands at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos journalist, who was also a business consultant. Although she was close to her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother, which formed her character. As early as her childhood she demonstrated the ability to lead that has become well known. At 16 years of age she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. When she was in the college years, she joined the debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. She worked as a critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation.
